Kiwi fighter Dylan ‘The Villain’ Andrews has been selected in a 28-man field for The Ultimate Fighter on FX.
The show will feature 28 middleweight fighters with teams to be coached by current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and the controversial Chael Sonnen. The show will kick-off on 27 January with a two-hour premiere aired on FX.
Andrews (15-4-1) has been in winning form leading up to the show’s premiere, having strung together four consecutive victories, which included three TKOs. He will have to fight his way into the TUF house before joining Team Jones or Team Sonnen.
Fighting out of the Heartbreak Conditioning and the PUMMA gym, the fighter started his MMA career 6 years ago after moving from his native New Zealand in pursuit of a career in the cage.
The UFC sorted through more than 250 applicants from the United States, Sweden, the UK and Australia before deciding on the final 28-man field.
“The quality of guys we have this season in unbelievable,” said UFC President Dana White.
“From the fights to get into the house, to every single fight this season, I think the talent is some of the best I’ve ever seen on this show. We’re going to end up with some really good guys in the 185-pound division.”
