Your say: Women in the UFC now!

One of the hottest topics in MMA at the moment is centred on female divisions in the sport, and more specifically, in the UFC.

There is already a well-established stable of fighters both here and overseas in the kickboxing and Muay Thai community, but MMA is lagging a little behind.

Now people are wondering if MMA will slowly follow suit or will it go more the way of boxing and keep fighting firmly in the domain of the men.

After putting it up for vote on the website, it came back with an accumulated 53.5 per cent of people wanting to see a women’s division in the UFC.

If you consider that 10 per cent of the votes went to ‘I don’t care either way’, then you could say that it is strong indication that people want to see the girls go at it. It isn’t exactly a landslide thought.

Most people, I assume guys, weren't hungry to see pretty young girls like Gina Carano get their faces smashed in, which is valid I guess.

While I think women’s MMA is definitely on the rise, I don't think it will be implemented into the UFC for some time, but I’m sure it will get there one day.

Like several other issues, Dana White doesn’t seem interested in the prospect any time soon and he’s probably worried it will cause him more trouble than it’s worth, both in the media and government.
